Hauszmann–Gschwindt Mansion, Velence

The Hauszmann-Gschwindt Mansion is a structure displaying neo-baroque architectural features that date from the early 20th century. It contains a hand-carved wooden staircase, a baroque fireplace, and original majolica stoves in the entrance hall.

The estate was founded in the 18th century by the Meszleny family and later completely reworked by architect Alajos Hauszmann in 1913. The industrialist Gschwindt family acquired the building shortly after and shaped it for several decades with their collecting passion.

The mansion served for generations as a private retreat for wealthy families who used it as a summer residence. The mature linden and chestnut trees in the grounds reflect how the owners shaped their gardens following European design traditions.

The mansion is located near Velence's lake area and is currently part of a private resort zone with restricted visitor access. It is advisable to check exact opening conditions in advance before planning a visit.

The entrance hall displays a baroque fireplace with elaborate stucco work on the ceiling that remains nearly complete. These details were created by original craftspeople from the 18th century and offer a rare glimpse into the artistry of that period.
