Newtown Castle, Tower house in Ballyvaughan, Ireland.
The cylindrical stone structure rises above a square base, reaching four stories with walls measuring twelve feet thick at the ground level.
Built around 1550 for the O'Brien clan, the castle later transferred to the O'Lochlainn family who maintained control until the late 19th century.
The castle now functions as part of the Burren College of Art, where graduate conferring ceremonies take place on the top floor each year.
Visitors can access the castle on weekdays from 10 AM to 5 PM, exploring multiple floors connected by narrow staircases and defensive features.
The ground floor contains a circular chamber with traditional wattle and daub ceiling construction, used historically for food storage.
