Aill na Cronain, Limestone cliff and climbing area in County Clare, Ireland
The 150-meter limestone formations at Aill na Cronain contain over 80 established climbing routes suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers.
Since the 1970s, climbers have documented and developed routes at Aill na Cronain, starting with the first recorded ascents in 1971.
The central Skull Buttress formation has inspired route names related to skull anatomy, creating a distinctive naming tradition among Irish climbing spots.
Access requires a 10-minute walk from Aillwee Cave parking lot, which closes at 6 PM, and groups should remain under six people.
The north face of Skull Buttress presents technical challenges with routes like Monkey Business E2 5c and Sunbane E1 5c.
