Cahermore ringfort, Medieval ringfort in Rathborney, Ireland
The structure features thick limestone walls reaching 9 feet in height and width, forming a circular defensive settlement in County Clare.
Archaeological evidence, including a scallop shell discovered beneath the foundations, dates the site's construction and occupation to the early 14th century.
The ringfort contains guard chambers at its entrance, indicating the elevated social status of the inhabitants during medieval Irish society.
The site stands near the R480 road between Ballyvaughan and Leamaneh Castle, with designated areas for vehicles to stop and park.
During excavations in the late 1990s, researchers recovered artifacts including a coin from 1690 following the collapse of the entrance lintel.
