Akhziv National Park

Akhziv National Park is an archaeological site along the Mediterranean coast between Nahariya and Acre featuring natural coastal elements like bays, rocky cliffs, and rock pools. The location includes several areas for swimming and recreation alongside remains of structures that represent different historical periods.

Settlement began during the Canaanite period and developed into an important Phoenician trading port connected to Mediterranean commerce. Over centuries, Assyrian and later Crusader forces occupied this strategic coastal location.

The name reflects Phoenician origins and their role in this coastal region's development as a trading hub. Today, the elevated location of the settlement tells visitors how maritime communities strategically positioned themselves for commerce and protection.

Access is via Road 4 between kilometer markers 245 and 246 with adequate parking and visitor facilities available. The site has several designated swimming areas and is best explored during fair weather conditions.

The archaeological mound rises distinctly above the landscape and contains layered settlement remains documenting thousands of years of human habitation. This layering shows how different peoples lived and built in the same location across long periods.
