Hadera

Hadera is a city along the Mediterranean coast stretching roughly 7 kilometers between Tel Aviv and Haifa, mixing urban areas with open spaces. The city combines residential quarters with green areas and offers several public spaces along the waterfront.

The city was founded in 1891 when ten families from Lithuania and Latvia established an agricultural settlement on land purchased from a Christian landowner. These early settlers laid the foundation for what later became a significant center.

The city is home to significant communities of people from Ethiopia and the former Soviet Union who arrived during the 1990s and shaped its character. This diversity appears in local shops, restaurants, and the everyday rhythm of the neighborhoods.

The city has two railway stations on different lines connecting passengers to major Israeli cities, while the central bus terminal offers regional transportation. Visitors can easily reach the beach and explore the city on foot or by public transport.

Hadera is home to one of the country's largest power generation facilities, shaping the region's energy supply for decades. Additionally, a major seawater desalination plant operates in the city and provides the area with treated water.
