The burial site contains a stone structure marking the final resting place of Rachel, wife of the respected Rabbi Akiva, within Tiberias Old Cemetery.
The identification of this tomb dates to 1522 when Rabbi Bassula changed its attribution from Sit Sukeina to Rachel, wife of Rabbi Akiva.
Religious Jews regularly come to this burial site to offer prayers and engage in spiritual reflection, continuing centuries-old traditions of visiting sacred places.
The tomb remains open throughout the year and can be included in broader tours of religious sites across the Galilee region of Israel.
This tomb should not be confused with the other Rachel's Tomb near Bethlehem or the one in Kinneret Cemetery, as this marks specifically Rabbi Akiva's wife.
