Latrun Abbey, Trappist monastery in Latrun, Israel

The monastery complex contains a church with a high vaulted ceiling supported by arches, featuring minimalist architectural design without decorative elements.

French Trappist monks established the monastery in 1890, though Turkish forces expelled them during World War I and converted the site into military quarters.

The monastery follows strict Benedictine-Cistercian traditions, with monks practicing a lifestyle of limited speech and participating in seven daily prayer sessions.

Visitors can purchase wines, honey, and olive oil produced by the monks at the entrance shop, which also offers books and commemorative items.

The monastery maintains an archaeological collection in its courtyard, displaying decorated column fragments and ossuaries that represent the region's extended history.
