Givataym slik, Heritage site in Givatayim, Israel.
Givataym slik is an underground facility built beneath a residential building at Zabotinsky Street 48 in the Tel Aviv District. The structure includes connected chambers and passages that held supplies and equipment, with surviving records and physical evidence still visible today.
The Haganah organization created this site in 1939 as a hidden storage location under a private home to protect weapons and supplies. It was one of many such underground facilities built across the region during the years before Israeli statehood.
The site reflects how a community organized itself to protect its members during a period of tension and conflict. These hidden rooms were places where people worked together to ensure their collective security.
Access is by appointment only since the facility lies beneath a private residence and is not freely open to the public. The underground rooms are reached by stairs, so visitors should be prepared for confined spaces and narrow passages.
The facility was named after Avraham Aldema, a community member involved in its creation and maintenance. Few visitors today know this personal connection, which shows how local individuals contributed to these underground operations.
