Jalgaon

Jalgaon lies in the northern part of Maharashtra, where the Girna River runs through residential and commercial zones. Streets extend in all directions and much of the town sits flat and easy to traverse.

The town began as a stopping point along old trade paths and became a firm junction during the 19th century with the railway link. The connection to Mumbai and Delhi brought business and lasting trade to the region.

The city's name combines the word for forest with an old local term for water, referencing the earlier landscape. The surrounding region grows bananas mostly in small plantations that shape the cityscape and are visible everywhere at markets.

Many trains pass through the central station, so it helps to check connections early and reserve seats. Most facilities and shops concentrate along main roads close to the railway and are reachable on foot.

Local traders sell freshly harvested bananas in huge bunches that often arrive straight from the field and still carry red earth at the roots. The fruit ripens in open markets and gives the whole area a sweet smell.
