Garstin Bastion Road, Red-light district in Old Delhi, India
Garstin Bastion Road extends from Ajmeri Gate to Lahori Gate, featuring two and three-story buildings with commercial establishments on ground levels.
During British rule, a commissioner named Garstin Bastion merged five separate red-light areas of Delhi into this single district.
The road received a new name, Swami Shradhanand Marg, in 1966, though locals continue to refer to it by its original designation.
The street contains the largest market for machinery, automobile parts, and hardware tools in the National Capital Region.
The upper floors of twenty buildings house approximately one hundred establishments that begin operations after ground-level shops close for the day.
