Naya Mandir, Jain temple in Old Delhi, India
The Naya Mandir features traditional architecture with carved doors, multiple domes, and detailed stone sculptures throughout its structure, located opposite the Red Fort.
Raja Harsukh Rai, a treasurer in the Mughal Empire, established this temple in 1807 during Emperor Akbar II's reign with permission to build a shikhara.
The temple contains an extensive collection of manuscripts, including a rare illustrated Maha-purana by Acharya Jinasena from 1420 CE.
The temple maintains regular hours for visitors, requires removal of shoes before entry, and stands within walking distance from Chandni Chowk metro station.
The temple includes a concealed chamber called bhonyra, designed specifically to protect sacred statues during periods of social instability.
