Lothian Cemetery, Historic cemetery in Kashmere Gate district, Delhi, India
The Lothian Cemetery spans across a large area near the General Post Office, featuring numerous weathered tombstones and memorial structures from the colonial period.
Founded in 1808, this burial ground served the Christian community until the 1960s and contains graves of East India Company members who died during the 19th-century cholera outbreak.
The cemetery holds the remains of English servicemen who lost their lives during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, reflecting the complex colonial history of Delhi.
Visitors can access the cemetery daily between 10 AM and 5 PM without paying an entrance fee, with the Archaeological Survey of India maintaining the grounds.
Local narratives mention the spirit of a British officer named Sir Nicholas, who reportedly walks through the cemetery searching for his lost love.
