Shahi Sunehri Masjid

The Shahi Sunehri Masjid is a mosque in Chandni Chowk with three gilt domes and slender minarets accessible via stairs on an elevated platform. The structure displays classical Mughal architectural elements with ornate facades and geometric patterns throughout its design.

Roshan-ud-Daula Zafar Khan commissioned this structure in 1721 during the reign of Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. It was built during a period when Delhi served as a major administrative and commercial center of the empire.

The mosque continues to serve as an active place of Islamic prayer and displays the hallmarks of Indo-Islamic architectural tradition. Its design reflects practices that developed over centuries and remain visible in how the building is structured.

The mosque is located beside the busy Chandni Chowk Road and can be visited daily, though visitors should be aware of prayer times. Outside these times, the architectural details are easier to observe and entry is more straightforward.
