Buddh International Circuit, Motorsport racing track in Greater Noida, India
The Buddh International Circuit extends over 5.14 kilometers with 16 turns and incorporates notable elevation changes throughout its layout in Uttar Pradesh. The racing facility combines fast straights with technically demanding corner sequences that challenge different vehicle types.
The venue opened in 2011 and hosted the Formula One Indian Grand Prix until 2013, when tax disputes with regional authorities led to its removal from the calendar. Since then, occasional national and international motorsport events have taken place here.
The facility takes its name from Gautama Buddha, reflecting the spiritual heritage of the Gautam Buddh Nagar district where it stands. This naming connects modern racing technology with the region's long religious tradition.
The venue accommodates 110,000 spectators and meets international standards for both Formula One and MotoGP competitions. Visitors find multiple grandstand areas along the track offering different sightlines to corners and straights.
During the 2020 pandemic, the facility transformed into a temporary shelter for thousands of migrant workers returning to their villages. The empty grandstands and facilities provided refuge and supplies during a period of national emergency.
