Khordha district, Administrative district in Central division, India
The district stretches across 2,813 square kilometers within Odisha state, featuring the capital city Bhubaneswar and numerous villages organized into 168 Grama panchayats.
Formed in 1993 through the division of former Puri District, Khordha served as the capital of Odisha from 1568 to 1803 under Ramachandra Deva's establishment.
The population of 2,251,673 residents includes various tribal groups, with Hindus comprising 95.38% and Odia speakers representing 92.13% of the inhabitants.
The district contains two main subdivisions, Bhubaneswar and Khurda, with Khordha Town functioning as the administrative headquarters for government operations.
The region maintains brass utensil manufacturing traditions while hosting modern industrial facilities, including railway coach production and international food manufacturing units.
