Abu Road, Railway settlement in Sirohi district, India.
Abu Road is a settlement in Sirohi district in Rajasthan, situated along the West Banas River. The town sits at roughly 260 meters elevation and forms the largest urban center in its area.
Abu Road received its name in 1880 when a railway station was established, replacing the earlier name Kharadi. The rail connection integrated the region more closely with the rest of India.
Abu Road serves as a crossroads where people from surrounding areas meet and settle. The town functions as a point where mountain and plains commerce interact with each other.
The railway station connects the town with major destinations like the mountain resort Mount Abu and other regions on the main Delhi-Ahmedabad line. Visitors can reach nearby attractions easily from here.
The town is home to the RIICO Industrial Area, a major manufacturing hub with marble, granite, and cement production along with electronics factories. This industrial presence gives the place an economic role quite different from comparable towns in the region.
