The name comes from Arabic and refers to an Islamic educational institution open to all communities. Students from across the country and neighboring nations study together on grounds that include a mosque, lecture halls, and residential quarters.
The main entrance is on Maulana Mohammad Ali Jauhar Marg, a busy road in the southern part of the city. Visitors can reach the campus by bus or metro and enter public areas during daytime hours.
The library preserves a large collection of old manuscripts in Persian, Arabic, and Urdu that offer insights into regional literature and history. Many of these texts were written by scholars and poets from Mughal times and after.
