Yamunanagar, Industrial city in Haryana, India.
Yamunanagar is a city in Yamunanagar district in Haryana, India, spread along the Yamuna River. The settlement connects residential zones with factories, warehouses and agricultural fields that extend for several kilometers.
The settlement was formerly known as Abdullahpur and received its current name after India gained independence. Following the partition in 1947, numerous refugees from West Punjab arrived here, which accelerated the growth of the town.
The city is divided into several neighborhoods where workshops, homes and small temples sit close together. Trucks mix with bicycle rickshaws on the streets, while vendors spread their goods across open markets.
The railway station at Yamunanagar-Jagadhri connects the town to other major centers in the region. The Western Yamuna Canal supplies water to surrounding fields and shapes the landscape outside the built-up areas.
The town hosts a large number of plywood factories that shape the economic life here. Trucks carry wood panels to construction sites across the country, while the factories operate around the clock.
