Kokernag

Kokernag is a mountain destination in Anantnag district situated around 2000 meters high in the Breng Valley with pine forests surrounding the area. The gardens are built on terraces and display colorful flower beds, while natural springs feed through the entire landscape.

The gardens were established during the administration of Bakhshi Ghulam Mohammad, marking an important development period for this region. This founding reflects how deliberately planned garden projects shaped the landscape and local progress.

This location hosts one of the region's largest rainbow trout hatcheries, playing an important role in local fish production. The numerous springs that emerge here make this specialized breeding facility possible and shape the entire ecosystem.
