Shankaracharya hill

Shankaracharya temple sits at the peak of a hill overlooking Dal Lake and the Kashmir Valley below. The shrine is built from stone with a central sanctum and attracts both local and visiting worshippers throughout the year.

The temple's origins stretch back many centuries, making it one of Kashmir's oldest religious sites. Over the years the shrine has undergone changes, but its role as a sacred place of worship has remained central to the region.

The rock on which the shrine stands contains ancient geological layers millions of years old. These natural formations beneath the sanctuary make it a place where spirituality and nature come together.
