Aali Mosque

Aali Mosque is a prayer house in Srinagar with a large central prayer hall. The interior is defined by many wooden columns set on stone pedestals that structure and support the space.

The mosque was built in either the late 14th century or the 15th century, with the exact date disputed between two different historical sources. This makes it one of the early Islamic buildings in the Srinagar region.

The building blends wooden craftsmanship typical of Kashmir with architectural ideas from Central Asia. The many wooden columns inside create a distinctive look that shows how local construction methods were applied here.

The site functions as an active place of worship and sits near open land, making it easy to reach. Keep in mind this is a working religious space where respectful behavior is important.

Each wooden column rests on a uniquely carved stone pedestal, with each one displaying different carved patterns. This handcrafted variety shows the care invested in every single support of the building.
