Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary, Bird sanctuary in Mandya district, India.

Six islands along the Kaveri River form this 40-hectare natural reserve where pelicans, storks, and herons inhabit the riverine reed beds.

The sanctuary originated in 1940 when ornithologist Salim Ali convinced the Mysore king to protect these islets formed by a 17th-century river embankment.

The land carries the name Ranganatha, referring to the Hindu deity Vishnu, and local communities recognize it as Pakshi Kashi of Karnataka.

Visitors can take guided boat tours from 9 AM to 6 PM daily, with different entrance fees for domestic and international tourists.

The sanctuary contains Karnataka's largest population of freshwater crocodiles, which share the habitat with smooth-coated otters and monitor lizards.
