Tollygunge Club, Sports and heritage club in Kolkata, India
The Tollygunge Club extends across one hundred acres of land, featuring an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and equestrian facilities.
Scottish banker William Dixon Cruickshank established the club in 1895, acquiring an 18th-century Palladian garden house previously owned by East India Company employee Richard Johnson.
The club grounds contain numerous indigenous and exotic plants introduced during colonial times, creating a botanical collection within the urban environment.
Members have access to 67 air-conditioned rooms, multiple restaurants, conference facilities, and a fully equipped gymnasium with professional training staff.
The property maintains a natural habitat where jackals still roam at night, while numerous bird species inhabit the golf course fairways and wooded areas.
