The constituency extends across parts of central Delhi district, the entire North East Delhi district, and sections of Shahdara district. It covers various neighborhoods including Burari, Timarpur, Seemapuri, Rohtas Nagar, Seelampur, Ghonda, Babarpur, Gokalpur, Mustafabad, and Karawal Nagar.
The constituency was established in 2008 following recommendations from the Delimitation Commission of India. Jai Prakash Agarwal served as its first parliamentary representative.
