Park Hyatt Chennai, building in India
Park Hyatt Chennai is a luxury hotel in Zone 13 Adyar that opened in 2012 and is managed by Hyatt Hotels. The nine-story building on Velachery Road contains over two hundred rooms of varying sizes, an event space divisible into six areas, The Flying Elephant restaurant with six open kitchens, and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking Guindy National Park.
The site was previously occupied by Concorde Motors, an automobile dealership, before being developed into this hotel in 2012. Textile businessman Vijay Mahtaney built the property as part of his broader urban development plans and the hotel won the best new hotel award at the HICSA awards in 2013.
The hotel's design references Indian textiles and weaving traditions through its decor and interior details. You can see this influence in the silk and canvas wall treatments throughout the spaces, connecting the building to the local craft heritage.
The hotel is roughly twenty minutes from the main airport in an accessible area with sidewalks, taxis, and local dining options nearby. The rooftop pool is accessed via the eighth floor using stairs or elevator, the fitness center is on the same floor, and free Wi-Fi with good speeds is available throughout the property.
This is the only Category 1 property within the Park Hyatt brand, making it more affordable for guests redeeming loyalty points compared to other Park Hyatt locations. This classification offers a rare opportunity for value within the upscale hotel chain.
