Trikut Hill, Hindu pilgrimage hill in Deoghar District, Jharkhand, India
Trikut Hill is a hill in Deoghar District, Jharkhand, rising about fifteen kilometers from Deoghar town and reaching roughly 750 meters in height. The formation consists of three separate peaks covered in dense forest and crossed by walking trails.
Hindu texts describe this hill as a resting place during a mythical journey carrying a sacred object from a Himalayan mountain to a distant island. Religious structures and hermitages later appeared on the forested slopes, visited by ascetics and pilgrims.
The three peaks carry the names of Hindu gods and draw pilgrims who visit temple grounds set among the forested heights. Walkers follow paths leading to spiritual sites where devotees gather for meditation and prayer.
The climb takes around two hours along marked paths, and companions at the base help with orientation. The best time to visit falls outside the rainy season when trails are drier and safer.
During monsoon months between July and September, the slopes turn into a waterscape with many small streams and cascades. Clouds then wrap around the peaks and create a dense, misty atmosphere that changes the view of the surroundings.
