Dibang River Bridge, Road bridge in Lower Dibang Valley district, India
The Dibang River Bridge stretches for 6 kilometers across the river, connecting Bomjir and Malek villages in Arunachal Pradesh. It forms part of National Highway 13 and crosses multiple river channels with large spans of about 200 meters each.
Construction of this infrastructure project began in April 2013 and was completed in 2018. The project marked a turning point in connecting this remote region year-round.
The bridge carries two names in local languages: Sikang in Adi and Talon in Idu Mishmi, reflecting the indigenous communities who live here. These names show how the structure has become part of local daily life and identity.
The bridge provides all-season road access and eliminates previous seasonal interruptions to traffic. The crossing is straightforward for regular vehicles and offers a more direct route between the Dambuk and Roing areas.
The bridge was built with particularly large spans of 200 meters each to cross the numerous river channels and islands. This makes it the third-longest bridge over water in India and reflects the engineering challenge posed by this river landscape.
