Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Prani Udyan, Wildlife park in Gorakhpur, India.
Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Prani Udyan is a wildlife park set across about 121 acres, featuring wetlands and dense forest near Ramgarh Tal Lake. The facility displays Asiatic lions, tigers, leopards, rhinoceroses, zebras, hippopotamuses, and multiple bear species in naturalistic enclosures.
The park opened to the public in 2021 and was the first zoo in the Purvanchal region and the third in Uttar Pradesh state. Its creation aimed to protect regional wildlife and establish a learning space for the community.
The park bears the name of independence activist Ashfaqulla Khan and allows visitors to learn through its information center and outdoor performance spaces. Local families and school groups use these facilities to discover more about wildlife and the region's past.
The grounds are open daily and visitors can explore the park in a half-day or full day depending on interest in the various enclosures. Comfortable shoes and water are advisable since there are many paths to walk and the sun can be intense.
The grounds function as a carbon sink, with green spaces helping to improve air quality in the region. This dual purpose as both a recreation area and environmental benefit makes it valuable to the community.
