Sri Ramkrishna Ashram, Nimpith, Spiritual organization in Nimpith, India
Sri Ramkrishna Ashram in Nimpith is a spiritual community in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, with temples, prayer halls, and educational buildings spread across its campus. The grounds also include an agricultural science center that supports farming practices in the surrounding Sundarbans region.
Swami Buddhanandaji founded the ashram in 1960 with the backing of West Bengal's chief minister at the time, with the aim of serving local communities. Since then, it has grown into a center for education and agricultural support in the Sundarbans area.
The ashram follows the teachings of Ramakrishna and holds regular meditation sessions and talks on spiritual texts that visitors can attend. People from nearby villages often come here to pray together or simply sit in silence in one of the open spaces.
The ashram is easy to reach on foot and welcomes visitors to its prayer spaces and educational programs. Coming in the early morning or evening gives a better sense of how the place works day to day.
The ashram operates independently from the main organization that shares its name, while also running three branch centers in different towns. This decentralized setup is uncommon for an institution of this kind in the region.
