Etawah Safari Park, Safari park in Etawah, India
Etawah Safari Park is a safari park in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, India, spreading across a wide area of grassland and low scrub. Vehicle paths lead through several zones where big cats, ungulates and other mammals live in fenced sections.
Authorities built the reserve from 2012 onward to establish Asiatic lions outside Gujarat. The opening took place in November 2019 after enclosures and visitor paths were completed.
The name Lion Safari recalls the early plans for the park, though it now shelters many other animal species. Visitors learn through local guides about the traditional relationship between people in Uttar Pradesh and the wildlife of the region.
The cooler months between November and February offer the most comfortable visiting conditions, as animals are more active. Vehicles follow set routes through the different enclosures, and stopping points provide the best views.
The lion breeding program documented nine births by the end of 2020 in the specialized dens. Each enclosure is fitted with separately accessible retreat niches so that mothers remain undisturbed during the first weeks.
