Aiguille Blanche de Peuterey, Mountain summit in Courmayeur, Italy.
Aiguille Blanche de Peuterey is a granite rock formation within the Mont Blanc massif, featuring three distinct summits clustered together. The highest point rises to about 4,112 meters (13,500 feet) above sea level.
The first recorded ascent of the highest point took place in 1885 when mountaineers with experienced guides reached the summit. This climb marked the beginning of wider exploration of this granite formation by alpine expeditions.
The mountain features three distinct summits named after mountaineers: Pointe Güssfeldt at 4,112 meters, Pointe Seymour King at 4,107 meters, and Pointe Jones at 4,104 meters.
The route demands technical climbing skills including rock climbing, ice work, and altitude acclimatization. Best conditions typically occur from June through September when snow is reduced and access is easier.
Recent glacial changes and rockfall events have modified the climbing routes, including a significant landslide in 1995 that altered access paths across the Brenva and Freney sides.
