Rifugio 7º Alpini, Mountain hut in Belluno, Italy.
Rifugio 7º Alpini is a mountain hut situated at about 1,500 meters elevation in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park, surrounded by towering rock faces and mountain paths. The shelter contains about 50 beds in rooms for several people, each with private bathrooms and hot water facilities.
The hut was established in 1951 by the Club Alpino Italiano to support hikers and climbers exploring the Schiara mountain range. Its creation responded to the growing need for accommodations as mountain activities expanded throughout the region.
The hut marks the final point of the Alta Via 1 trail, where hikers who have walked for days through alpine terrain arrive to finish their journey. It serves as a gathering place where visitors meet other mountaineers and celebrate completing this long-distance route.
The hut is accessible via a trail called 'il Calvario', which crosses a mountain stream several times and passes near waterfalls and rock formations. Visitors should arrive with proper hiking boots and weather-resistant clothing, as the approach is steep and mountain conditions change quickly.
The name 'il Calvario' refers to the many stream crossings and steep climbs that make the trail physically demanding. This approach route is less traveled by tourists than other ways to reach popular alpine destinations, giving it a more genuine character.
