Certosa di Vedana

The Vedana Charterhouse stands at 430 meters on Piz di Vedana slopes, containing a central cloister surrounded by monk cells, a church, and communal buildings.

Built in 1456 as a monastery, the complex underwent major renovations in 1882 after the Prosecutor of the Great Charterhouse of Pavia acquired the property.

The monastery architecture follows the traditional Carthusian design with three distinct areas: the large cloister, small cloister, and designated space for lay brothers.

Located 10 kilometers from Belluno, the monastery now houses a community of cloistered nuns dedicated to perpetual prayer since 2018.

The church interior features three altar pieces, including works by Sebastiano Ricci depicting Jesus' Baptism and Madonna with Child between Saint Bruno and Saint Hugo.
