Cime de Nasta, Alpine summit in Maritime Alps, Italy
Cime de Nasta rises to 3,108 meters above sea level, featuring gneiss rock formations within the Argentera massif of the Maritime Alps range.
British mountaineer Douglas Freshfield completed the first recorded ascent of Cime de Nasta in 1878 while attempting to reach the southern peak of Argentera.
The mountain stands as a natural border between the municipalities of Valdieri and Entracque, marking territorial boundaries in the Piedmont region.
Four climbing routes of varying difficulties lead to the summit, with August recording the highest number of successful ascents at fifty percent.
The mountain contains metamorphic gneiss rock formations that developed through the transformation of granite under intense pressure and temperature conditions.
