Church of Domine Quo Vadis, Baroque church on Via Appia Antica, Rome, Italy

The Santa Maria in Palmis stands at the intersection of Via Appia and Via Ardeatina, measuring 17 meters in length and 11 meters in width.

The current structure dates from 1637, replacing a ninth-century chapel at the location where Saint Peter encountered Christ while fleeing Roman persecution.

The marble slab inside the church displays two footprints that Pope Innocent III recognized as authentic evidence of the meeting between Saint Peter and Jesus.

The church opens daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM in winter and until 7:00 PM during summer months, with free admission for all visitors.

A column near the church features a bust of Polish author Henryk Sienkiewicz, who wrote his novel 'Quo Vadis' while spending time at this location.
