Santa Maria Donnalbina, Naples, Baroque church in Naples, Italy
Santa Maria Donnalbina features a single nave with four side chapels, decorated with stucco work, pilasters, and frescoes adorning the dome above the marble altar.
Originally built in the 9th century, the church underwent complete reconstruction in the 17th century by architect Bartolomeo Picchiatti, with later modifications by Arcangelo Guglielmelli.
The gilded wooden ceiling, created in 1701 by Antonio Guidetti, represents a significant example of Neapolitan Baroque sacred art within the church.
The church reopened to visitors in 2010 following extensive restoration work, allowing access to its artistic and architectural elements.
The church houses the neoclassical funeral monument of Giovanni Paisiello, created by Angelo Viva in 1816, located to the left of the entrance.
