Galata - Museo del mare

The Galata - Museo del mare spans four floors and contains extensive collections of nautical instruments, ship models, and historical maritime artifacts.

The museum building, inaugurated in 2004, occupies the location of Genoa's former Galata maritime arsenal, which produced vessels since the 16th century.

Exhibits detail the transformations of maritime life through centuries, from ancient navigation techniques to modern naval developments and Mediterranean trade routes.

The museum provides multilingual audio guides, a rooftop viewing area, and specialized educational programs for school groups throughout the academic year.

Visitors can experience submarine navigation through an accurate reconstruction of a World War II submarine interior with original instruments and equipment.
