Bivacco Bonfante, Mountain bivouac hut in Prazzo, Italy.
Bivacco Bonfante is a small mountain shelter located at 2630 meters in the Maira Valley, positioned at the base of Mount Chersogno and Rocca la Marchisa. The wooden building provides sleeping spots for approximately a dozen people and runs on solar power.
The shelter was inaugurated on July 13, 2006, and named after Elio Bonfante, a mountaineer who died on Dente del Gigante in 1992. Its construction honored his memory within the local climbing community.
The CAI Bra section manages this mountain refuge, which serves as a gathering point for mountaineers exploring the peaks of Maira Valley.
Water is available from the Fonte Nera spring approximately 10 minutes walk away. The location sits at high altitude, so visitors should prepare for changeable weather and challenging terrain.
A small rock climbing area with 13 single-pitch routes sits near the shelter with various difficulty levels. This hidden training ground attracts climbers looking to practice while gaining mountain experience.
