Monte Chersogno, Mountain summit in Piedmont, Italy
Monte Chersogno reaches an elevation of 3,026 meters in the Chambeyron Massif, featuring steep slopes and a prominent east face of quartzitic rock formations.
The first documented ascent occurred in 1877 when engineer Pio Paganini from the Military Geographical Institute climbed the summit with his topographical team.
The mountain gained recognition through its appearance in the Italian film 'Il vento fa il suo giro', which takes place in the nearby township.
Hikers can access the summit through a challenging 13.4-kilometer trail from Grange Chiosso Superiore, requiring an elevation change of 1,310 meters.
The mountain ranks as the 83rd highest peak among 1,646 summits in the Cuneo province, offering views of the Rocca La Marchisa and Pelvo d'Elva chain.
