Bric de Rubren, Mountain summit at French-Italian border, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France.

Bric de Rubren is a mountain summit on the French-Italian border in the Alps. The peak displays steep slopes and rocky outcrops that create its harsh, exposed character.

The mountain's border position was established in 1860 through the Treaty of Turin, which redefined territorial boundaries between the two nations. Since that agreement, the peak has marked the political line separating France and Italy.

People living near the mountain follow seasonal grazing practices that have shaped the Alpine landscape for centuries. Shepherds still use traditional routes across the higher meadows during the warmer months.

Climbing here requires advanced mountaineering experience and proper Alpine equipment. Summer months offer the best window with more stable weather and snow-free routes.

The peak has two official names reflecting its position between nations: Bric de Rubren in French and Cima Mongioia in Italian. This dual naming shows how the border cuts through the Alpine landscape.
