Palazzo dell'Intendenza di Finanza, degli Uffici Finanziari e dell'Avvocatura di Stato, Government palace in San Giuseppe district, Naples, Italy
Palazzo dell'Intendenza di Finanza is an administrative building in Naples with a rectangular footprint and an apse-shaped side, marked by exposed brick facades and concrete structural elements throughout. The structure offers multiple entrances along its lateral facades, distinguished by travertine grilles and concrete decorative details.
The palace was built between 1933 and 1937 under architect Marcello Canino's direction, replacing the earlier San Tommaso d'Aquino complex. This construction was part of broader urban changes undertaken in the city during that period.
The building houses financial and legal offices that serve the local administration, making it a working center for government operations rather than a historical monument open to tourists.
The building is located on Via Armando Diaz in the San Giuseppe district and can be accessed from multiple points. Since it functions as an active government office, public access may be limited and it is primarily used by officials and staff conducting administrative business.
The main entrance features a large travertine niche that creates abstract patterns through the interplay of light and shadows. This distinctive portal design gives the facade an unusual visual depth that catches the eye of passersby.
