Parco Giardino Sigurtà, Botanical park in Valeggio sul Mincio, Italy
Parco Giardino Sigurtà is a botanical garden in Valeggio sul Mincio covering roughly 60 hectares, with seasonal flower beds, eighteen water ponds, and several themed areas. Wide paths wind through meadows, tree groves, and tidy borders that shift their colors with the seasons.
The garden opened to visitors in March 1978 after centuries as a private estate belonging to a noble family. That opening transformed the private grounds into a public space that now ranks among Italy's most important botanical gardens.
During spring, people gather to see more than a million tulips blooming across the lawns. Families often arrive early in the morning to photograph the flower beds before crowds arrive.
Visitors can explore the grounds on foot, by rental bicycle, electric golf cart, or a small train that loops through the garden. The wide paths suit wheelchairs and strollers, and most areas are easy to reach.
A maze of 1500 yew plants was built in 2011 with a tower in the center. From the top you can see the winding hedges and surrounding gardens from an unusual angle.
