Riserva naturale regionale dell' Isola di Gallinara

The reserve spans 11 hectares with Mediterranean vegetation, steep cliffs, and marine habitats supporting diverse ecological communities on the Ligurian coast.

During the 4th century, Saint Martin established a monastery on the island, which later became an important religious center for the Benedictine order.

The underwater archaeological sites near the island contain Roman ship remains from the 1st century BC, now preserved in the Naval Museum of Albenga.

The marine reserve management office provides information about guided visits, ecological research activities, and conservation programs throughout the year.

The southern cliffs house one of the largest royal gull nesting colonies in the northern Tyrrhenian Sea, with specialized vegetation growing in rock crevices.
