Roman Theatre of Anzio, Roman theatre in Anzio, Italy.
The theatre structure features a 30-meter diameter cavea divided into 11 radial sectors with a semicircular corridor for audience circulation.
Construction of the theatre dates to the second half of the first century AD during the establishment of a veteran praetorian soldier colony.
The theatre incorporated three canonical doors on the scene and rear stairs, allowing actors to perform on multiple levels during performances.
The archaeological site sits on the Santa Teresa plateau north of Anzio's center, within a residential neighborhood that preserves ancient city traces.
After its abandonment in late antiquity, the theatre's vaulted corridors contained three kilns used for producing terracotta artifacts.
