Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, Medieval palace in Piazza Matteotti, Perugia, Italy.

The Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo exhibits Renaissance architecture with Gothic elements, featuring twisted columns and four bifore windows adorned with garlands.

Built between 1473 and 1481 by architects Gasparino d'Antonio and Leone di Matteo, the palace underwent reconstruction after an earthquake destroyed its third floor in 1741.

The entrance portal displays two griffins holding a calf and a ram, while a lunette above shows an allegory of Justice with an inscription from 1472.

The building functions as the Court of Appeal and General Prosecutor's Office, with Gothic archways connecting to the Loggia dei Lanari exhibition space.

The palace stands on Piazza Matteotti, formerly called Piazza Sopramuro, which was established in the 13th century atop a steep cliff.
