Meloria North End Lighthouse

The Meloria North End Lighthouse is a cylindrical white concrete tower located off the coast of Livorno. The structure stands about 20 meters tall and features a lantern and observation balcony at its summit that overlooks the surrounding waters.

The lighthouse was built in 1958 at the northern section of Meloria shoal, a location with deep maritime roots. The area witnessed major naval conflicts during medieval times.

The structure represents the continuation of Italian maritime traditions, operating under Marina Militare management with identification code 1884 E.F.

The lighthouse sits offshore and is equipped with modern solar panels to operate independently from the power grid. Visitors should note that this is an active navigational aid best viewed from the water.

The lighthouse sits about 14 kilometers offshore on a shoal that creates a highly varied marine environment. At this location, water depth changes dramatically and creates complex conditions that make navigation challenging for ships.
