Santa Maria dell'aiuto, Sicilian Baroque shrine in central Catania, Italy.

Santa Maria dell'Aiuto is a shrine in Sicilian Baroque style featuring a wide staircase ascending to a facade with modified Ionic columns and two tall stone columns topped with Corinthian capitals. Inside, the spaces combine colored marble and sculptures in a balanced composition typical of the local architectural tradition.

The original structure was destroyed in the 1693 earthquake, prompting the construction of a new building designed by architect Antonino Battaglia. Decorator Michele Orlando later added the baroque embellishments that remain visible today.

The altar displays a venerated Byzantine icon of the Virgin positioned above colorful marble, flanked by statues of Saints Peter and Paul that visitors encounter upon entering.

The shrine stands at Via Santa Maria dell'Aiuto 80 at the intersection of several streets, making it easy to locate. Access is gained through the prominent front staircase that leads directly to the entrance.

The interior contains a scale reproduction of the Holy House of Loreto housed within one of its chapels. This small replica brings a connection to one of Italy's major pilgrimage destinations into the local church.
