Spiaggia di San Terenzo

San Terenzo Beach is a sandy shore along the Ligurian coast lined with a waterfront promenade and pastel-colored buildings. The seafloor slopes gradually into shallow water, with a castle visible on the hillside above.

A 15th-century castle overlooks the beach, built to defend the Gulf of La Spezia from raids and invasions during medieval times. The shore became a protected outpost within a chain of coastal defenses.

Fishing boats rest among swimmers, and local fishermen work their nets here as they have for centuries, making the beach a working harbor as much as a swimming spot. This mixture of daily labor and leisure is what gives the place its particular rhythm.

Some areas of the beach are free to use, while others have rental services for chairs and umbrellas available. The shallow gradient of the water and flat bottom make it straightforward for families and inexperienced swimmers.

A break wall positioned offshore creates a sheltered lagoon where swimmers enjoy calm conditions even when winds pick up elsewhere. This simple structure makes a noticeable difference to the swimming experience.
