Villa Grimaldi Fassio, Historical villa with art museum in Nervi district, Genoa, Italy

Villa Grimaldi Fassio is a former rural palace in the Nervi district that now functions as an art museum with two extensive collections. The rooms display paintings, sculptures, and drawings by Italian and foreign artists working during the 19th and 20th centuries.

The palace dates from the 18th century and underwent major transformation after World War II. Architect Luigi Carlo Daneri redesigned the building in 1956, adding a new connecting space to the surrounding park.

The villa displays works by artists like Mosé Bianchi and Giovanni Boldini, representing different artistic directions of the 19th and 20th centuries. The rooms draw visitors interested in how Italian and international painters approached their subjects during this period.

The building sits in the green Nervi area near the coast, easily accessible by public transportation from central Genoa. The surrounding setting allows time for a walk through the park and along the seafront path afterward.

The villa's garden holds a notable rose collection with hundreds of different varieties growing there. From 1985 to 1999, an important international competition for new rose varieties took place on these grounds.
